Vanessa Hudgens: From Brainiac to Blondie
-Posted by: Bing
Vanessa Hudgens will be heading from Montreal to Vancouver very soon to start filming on her next movie, Sucker Punch.
Sucker Punch director Zack Snyder recently dished to MTV that he was surprised by her audition. He shared, "She rehearsed, she did the audition for the scene. I wasn't sure at first – [the casting people] were like 'Oh, Vanessa's coming' and I was 'Oh, okay - that sounds cool' but I didn't know what to think. Then I saw the tape and I literally went, 'Wow, she's good. She's really good.' Then I talked to her about what she'd have to do."
He continued, "You're going to see her shooting machine guns, fighting... we sat her down for her physical evaluation, and she was really athletic. It'll allow her to stretch herself and do whatever she wants, and not be too exposed by the movie - but also, on the other hand, do things that people have never seen her do."
Sucker Punch, also starring Emily Browning and Abbie Cornish, is set to hit theaters in 2010.

Exclusive Interview with Vanessa!
-Posted by: Bing
Vanessa Hudgens recently sat down with Alloy.com to chat about her upcoming flick Bandslam. Vanessa seems like the girl who has it all: not only is she a talented actress, but she also has amazing vocal chops, and Zac Efron as her arm candy! It would be so easy to hate her, but her sweet personality makes that literally impossible. We all know and love Vanessa as the perky and chipper Gabriella in High School Musical, but in Bandslam, we'll see a whole new side of her. She plays the darker and more mysterious Sam. For deets on her fave weird food combo and her first kiss, keep reading!
Was it a transition going from Gabriella to Sa5m? It was exciting. It was fun. I finally got to play with a different kind of character and do something kind of new and different.
Sa5m talks in monotone. Was it hard to talk without any emotions? It kind of was because I'm such a giddy person and I laugh at almost everything, so I had to refrain from that. It was a lot of fun, you know? She's a different kind of person, so it took a lot. ... Read More ...
Vanessa Hudgens On Landing A 'Sucker Punch'
-Posted by: Bing
As you all learned earlier today, "High School Musical" star Vanessa Hudgens is very excited about her role in the upcoming Zack Snyder project, "Sucker Punch." Speaking with MTV's Matt Harper on the set of "Beastly," the singer gushed her affection for the "300" director's work, and her joy at being able to break away from her youth-oriented roots.
"Sucker Punch" tells the story of a wrongfully institutionalized young woman (Amanda Seyfried, at last report) who retreats into a fantasy world of her own creation as a coping mechanism. Hudgens will play Blondie, one of Seyfried's fellow inmates. Well here... why don't you see for yourself:
Vanessa Hudgens 'Taking A Break' From Music To Focus On Acting
-Posted by: Bing
'I'm just focusing on films and acting,' the star says.
Vanessa Hudgens won the hearts of tweens everywhere as Gabriella in the "High School Musical" movies, and she's set to do it again this summer when her new film, "Bandslam," hits theaters. But these days Hudgens is taking a break from singing to focus solely on acting.
"It's great! I mean, I love musicals, I really do," she told MTV News on the set of her new (non-musical) film, "Beastly." "I grew up doing them, so it'll always have a place in my heart ... at the same time, it's nice to be able to separate the two and just be able to focus on films. It's a lot of fun playing different characters and taking on new journeys."
Focusing on these upcoming projects leaves little time for Hudgens to work on anything music related, even writing tracks for any upcoming albums. "Honestly, I'm kind of taking a break from music right now. I'm just focusing on films and acting. I feel like when I'm doing something I really want, [I] focus on that and try to not spread myself all over the place."
But just because she's not singing in the film doesn't mean that Hudgens has ruled out recording a song for the soundtrack. "I'm always up for anything musically," she said. "I think it's so much fun. Just as long as I'm not singing in the movie," she laughed, "then it's OK."
Vanessa Hudgens has fun on the cover of the August 2009 issue of Sugar magazine. The 20-year-old actress dished with the mag that she couldn't stop crying on the last day of High School Musical. She shared, "The last day of HSM was horrible. I couldn't stop crying. Having to say goodbye to my close friends was so painful."
But Vanessa would love to work with on-and-off screen boyfriend Zac Efron again. She shared, "Not right now but sometime in the future it would be nice to work together again."
The July issue of Sugar (which features Ashley Tisdale) hits stands TOMORROW. Be sure to pick a copy up!

ET is in Montreal with 'High School Musical' star Vanessa Hudgens on the set of her new film, 'Beastly.' Watch the video to hear our interviews with Vanessa, and cast members Mary-Kate Olsen and Alex Pettyfer! The film, out next summer, is a modern take on 'Beauty and the Beast,' in which Vanessa plays Linda (the beauty), while Alex plays the vain Kyle Kingsbury (the beast).
"I think there's a great message in this film, you know, beauty isn't always as it seems to the eye...," Vanessa tells ET. So is Vanessa going to share an on-screen kiss with Alex as the beast? "I'm not sure if I actually kiss him in his beast state," Vanessa tells us. "I actually, still to this day, have not seen him in his beast costume because they're saving it as a surprise for me so the reaction is genuine, so I still don't know what to expect."
Watch the video for additional highlights from our set visit -- and to find out if Vanessa does any singing in the film! Then, tune in to Entertainment Tonight on Monday, June 22 for more behind the scenes of 'Beastly.' 'Beastly' is expected to hit theaters on July 30, 2010.
